PKP Intercity recorded impressive passenger transport results in the second quarter of this year. From April to June, nearly 20.3 million people used the carrier's services. This represents a significant increase compared to the first quarter, which saw 16.7 million passengers, and compared to the same period last year, which saw 17.1 million passengers.
The highest demand for PKP Intercity travel was recorded on June 2, when 280,000 passengers were on board the trains. Similarly high ridership was achieved on May 5, with nearly 277,000 passengers. These records, however, were surpassed on July 14, with the number of passengers reaching 282,500.
In April, PKP Intercity transported 6.2 million passengers, 7 million in May, and 7.1 million in June. The average daily number of trains operated during this period was 414. Due to the holiday season, this number increased to 454 from June 9.
In response to increased passenger traffic, especially during the long weekends in May and June, the carrier introduced additional trains and extended the routes of some services. In total, PKP Intercity reinforced 2,645 trains, adding 3,803 extra carriages.
These actions demonstrate PKP Intercity's commitment to improving travel comfort and meeting the growing demand for rail services in Poland.
