Poles are in first place among visitors to Lithuania

In 2023, Lithuania welcomed over 1.3 million foreign tourists, with more than 173,000 visitors arriving from Poland, marking a growth of over 47% compared to 2022. Poland currently holds the top position among the source markets, indicating Lithuania's increasing popularity among Polish travelers.

According to data from the National Tourism Development Agency Lithuania Travel, there was a 19.1% increase in tourist arrivals to Lithuania in 2023 compared to the previous year, totaling 1.3 million visitors. Poland, with 173,497 tourists, constituted the largest group of foreign visitors, reflecting a growth of over 47% compared to 2022. Poland now dominates as the main source market for tourists visiting Lithuania, although the numbers are still 9% lower compared to 2019, pre-pandemic.

The close geographical proximity of Lithuania and its transportation accessibility make it an attractive destination even for short weekend getaways. Direct flights from Warsaw (LOT) and a new offering from AirBaltic from Krakow starting in May facilitate travel. Additionally, there are bus connections provided by Flixbus, Ecolines, and Lux Express, as well as railway connections.

Lithuania offers a rich variety of tourist attractions for different age groups and preferences. Vilnius and Kaunas, with their historical landmarks and cultural events, make excellent destinations for spring or summer city breaks. Meanwhile, vast forests, national parks, and thousands of lakes provide ideal conditions for nature lovers and enthusiasts of active leisure. Spas such as Druskininkai or Birštonas also offer high-quality SPA & Wellness services, utilizing natural resources like peat mud or mineral waters. Furthermore, the tranquil and uncrowded Baltic coast serves as an alternative to Polish seaside resorts.
