Successful June at Katowice Airport
The Wojciech Korfanty Airport in Pyrzowice has released impressive transport statistics for June 2024. During the past month, Katowice Airport served 749,177 passengers, representing a 13.7% increase compared to June 2023, when 658,972 passengers were handled. This marked the best June in the airport's history, surpassing the previous record set last year.
On regular routes operated by carriers such as Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines, and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa, 285,222 passengers were transported. This figure is 5.9% higher than in the same period last year. The most popular connections were to Dortmund, London-Luton, London-Stansted, Catania, and Milan.
Even greater growth was observed in the charter sector. In June 2024, 462,285 passengers utilized charter flights organized by travel agencies, marking an 18.9% increase compared to June of the previous year. Among the holiday destinations, Antalya, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Heraklion, and Djerba were the most popular.
Summarizing the first six months of 2024, Katowice Airport handled a total of 2,615,909 passengers, which is a 16.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. These impressive results confirm the growing role of Katowice Airport as a key transportation hub in the region.
