Wizz Air to Start Flights from Poznań to Rome in September
Wizz Air is accelerating the launch of its new route from Poznań to Rome. The first flight to the Italian capital will take place on September 18, instead of the originally planned late October date.
The Poznań to Rome Fiumicino connection was added to the airline's reservation system at the beginning of July this year. Initially, the inauguration was scheduled for October 28, coinciding with the start of the winter flight schedule. However, unexpectedly high interest in the new route prompted Wizz Air to expedite the launch. According to available data, the first flight to Italy's largest airport will now take off on September 18.
For the remainder of the summer season, Wizz Air's aircraft will operate between Poznań and Rome twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. In the winter season, as previously planned, a Monday rotation will be added.
The flight schedule is as follows:
- Poznań 14:40 - Rome Fiumicino 17:00 (Wednesdays and Fridays, and from October 28 also on Mondays)
- Rome Fiumicino 11:45 - Poznań 14:05 (Wednesdays and Fridays, and from October 28 also on Mondays)
Wizz Air's new offer has elicited a response from its competitor. Ryanair, which operates flights from Poznań to Rome Ciampino, has decided to increase the frequency of its connections. From October, Ryanair will offer two additional weekly rotations on this route. Consequently, in the winter season, both airlines will provide a total of seven weekly flights from Poznań to Rome.
Wizz Air's decision to accelerate the launch of the route and Ryanair's response indicate growing interest in travel to Rome from Poznań. The new and increased connections will undoubtedly please travelers, who will benefit from greater flexibility in planning their trips. Rome, as a popular tourist destination, will now be even more accessible to residents of the Greater Poland region.
Wizz Air and Ryanair continually compete, striving to meet the increasing demand for air travel. Investing in new connections and increasing flight frequencies are parts of their strategies to attract as many passengers as possible. The current situation is an excellent example of how dynamically the aviation market is developing, responding to the changing needs of travelers.
