PKP Intercity announces significant changes in the autumn timetable, introducing new connections and record travel times between major cities in Poland. Starting September 1, passengers can expect faster and more comfortable journeys, thanks to years of investment in railway infrastructure modernization and the acquisition of modern trains.

Faster Connections to Szczecin, Poznań, and Wrocław

Among the new solutions, PKP Intercity introduces connections that will significantly shorten travel times between Warsaw and other major cities. Notably, the new EIC 1804/8105 Sedina and EIC 1800/8101 Chrobry trains will cover the route from the capital to Szczecin in a record time of 4 hours and 32 minutes. This means that passengers traveling from Poznań to Warsaw will be able to reach their destination in just 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Another novelty is the EIC 1604/6105 Lech train, which will connect Warsaw with Wrocław via Poznań. The travel time between Poznań and Wrocław will be only 1 hour and 18 minutes, making it one of the fastest connections in Poland. These trains will be operated with modern and comfortable carriages, enhancing the travel experience.

Direct Connections to Łódź, Białystok, and the Tri-City

Starting in September, more passengers will benefit from direct connections between Łódź, Warsaw, and Białystok. The new IC 1106/1007 Esperanto train will only stop in Warsaw, allowing the journey from Łódź Widzew to Warsaw Zachodnia to take 58 minutes and from Łódź Fabryczna to Warsaw Central to take 1 hour and 12 minutes. The travel time from Warsaw to Białystok will be a record 1 hour and 38 minutes, which is shorter than a car journey.

Additionally, three pairs of direct Express InterCity Premium (EIP) connections from Warsaw to the Tri-City will be maintained. These non-stop trains will allow passengers to travel from Warsaw to Gdańsk in 2 hours and 25 minutes. Due to high demand, these connections will remain in the timetable at least until mid-December.

Year-Round Connection from Gdynia to Zakopane

Travelers from the Tri-City will be able to use a year-round connection to Zakopane. The TLK 35102/53102 Lubomirski train will run daily, providing a convenient journey from Gdynia by the Baltic Sea to Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains. The EIC 1350/3150 Tatry train with an attractive travel time from Warsaw to Zakopane – 4 hours and 46 minutes – will also remain available.

Adjustment to Modernization Works

The autumn timetable also takes into account modernization works on the Central Railway Main Line, affecting travel times for trains from Warsaw to Kraków and Katowice. The speed on these routes will be reduced from 200 km/h to 160 km/h, increasing travel times by 11 to 23 minutes.

The railway line number 25 on the Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski – Sandomierz section will also be closed, with substitute bus services operating for trains IC 13106/31107 San and IC 13104/31105 Witos. Similar arrangements will apply to other modernized sections, including the Olsztyn – Kętrzyn – Giżycko route and the Lębork – Słupsk section.

Information for Travelers

During the implementation of the new timetable, mobile information officers will be available at the 15 largest stations in Poland to assist passengers in finding suitable connections and platforms. Up-to-date timetable information can be obtained on the PKP Intercity website and via the 24/7 hotline at +48 22 322 22 22.

PKP Intercity continuously strives to improve the quality of its services, as evidenced by the announced changes. Faster connections, new routes, and modern trains are a response to the growing needs of passengers who expect comfortable, fast, and safe journeys.
