Air Canada with the Leave Less Travel program
Air Canada with the Leave Less Travel program
Air Canada will offer travelers the Leave Less Travel program. The airline's initiative is based on leaving a "smaller footprint," understood as reducing the negative impact on the environment. The Canadian airline aims to provide travelers with the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint, increase funding for SAF, and compensate for carbon emissions.
What goals have been set for the coming years?
Air Canada has set the following greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets to ensure significant progress toward net zero emissions:
- 20% reduction in GHG emissions from air operations compared to the 2019 baseline by 2030.
- 30% reduction in GHG emissions from ground operations compared to the 2019 baseline by 2030.
- A $50 million investment in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and carbon emission reduction and removal by 2030.
Fleet modernization
Air Canada will also continue to deploy modernized and energy-efficient Airbus A220 and Boeing 737 MAX narrow-body fleets, which are more efficient compared to older aircraft models. These modern planes will reduce fuel consumption by about 20% per seat, lower CO2 emissions by 20%, and cut nitrogen oxide emissions by 50%.
Energy-saving equipment
The Canadian carrier will also focus on energy-saving equipment in indoor and outdoor facilities, such as high-efficiency heating and cooling systems and low-energy LED lighting. Air Canada will also launch electric vehicle charging stations to support sustainable commuting.
