Record-Breaking September at Chopin Airport

Bardzo udany wrzesień na Lotnisku Chopina

In September, Chopin Airport in Warsaw once again surpassed the milestone of 2 million passengers, handling exactly 2,091,980 travelers. This marked the fourth consecutive month with such a high volume, underscoring the continuous growth in passenger traffic. Since the beginning of the year, the airport has served over 16 million people, reflecting a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. The busiest day of September was Friday the 13th, when the airport handled a staggering 76,013 passengers.

Despite the end of the summer travel season, high traffic levels are expected to continue. The airport anticipates surpassing 20 million passengers by the end of the year. The holiday period from June to September saw remarkable results, with 8.4 million people served, including 1.78 million charter flight passengers. The most popular charter destinations were Antalya, Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Rhodes, and Heraklion, while regular routes saw London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Copenhagen as top choices.

September also witnessed a significant increase in cargo and mail volume, surpassing 11,000 tons for the first time in the airport’s 90-year history. This represented an impressive 15% growth compared to September 2023.

A notable development in September was the launch of a direct connection to Lyon by LOT Polish Airlines, with flights available six times a week. Further changes in the flight network are expected in October, as the airport transitions to its winter schedule.
